The Women in Golf Charter In 2021 Davenport Golf Club were proud to be one of the first signatories of the Women in Golf Charter in the area.
Davenport Golf Club is proud that our membership categories are non-gender specific. We have a fantastic ladies section which is the envy of the county.
The Charter:
- Is a statement of intent from the golf industry and golf clubs, to unite and to focus gender balance at all levels.
- Commits us all to supporting measures to increase the number of women, girls and families playing golf.
- Calls for positive action to encourage women to pursue careers in all areas of the sport.
- Recognises the need for change that creates an inclusive environment within golf and our club.
Ladies Saturday “Get into Golf” group sessions.
We have a fantastic ladies section which is the envy of the County.
A targeted recruitment campaign is being undertaken to encourage more younger women into golf at Davenport G.C. which is one of the commitments.
We are already doing some fantastic work including:-
- The junior golf scheme being run by Alan, Jamie and Christine with over 30 enrolled including 8 girls.
- The “Get into Golf” scheme is a pathway to golf for women run by our very own Pro Tony.
When we attract our new members, we will need more Buddies.
We are formalising our Buddy process to ensure we provide a quality service to both the new member and the member acting as a buddy.
Danuta Silva, Lady Vice Captain is formalising the “Buddy” scheme and creating a team of volunteers. In addition a welcome pack for all new members will be introduced.
Shirley Luther is the Charter Champion and will progress the Charter on behalf of the Club and reporting to the Council and England Golf on progress throughout the year. If you have any comments, want to help/volunteer please contact Shirley via shirluther53@gmail.com.
