The Women in Golf Charter In 2021 Davenport Golf Club were proud to be one of the first signatories of the Women in Golf Charter in the area.
Davenport Golf Club is proud that our membership categories are non-gender specific. We have a fantastic ladies section which is the envy of the county.
The Charter:
- Is a statement of intent from the golf industry and golf clubs, to unite and to focus gender balance at all levels.
- Commits us all to supporting measures to increase the number of women, girls and families playing golf.
- Calls for positive action to encourage women to pursue careers in all areas of the sport.
- Recognises the need for change that creates an inclusive environment within golf and our club.
Ladies Saturday “Get into Golf” group sessions.
We have a fantastic ladies section of more than 100 members, which is the envy of the County.
A targeted recruitment campaign is being undertaken to encourage more younger women into golf at Davenport G.C. which is one of the commitments.
We are already doing some fantastic work including:-
- The junior golf scheme being run by Alan, Jamie and Christine with over 30 enrolled including 8 girls.
- The “Ladies Get into Golf” scheme is a pathway to golf for women run by our very own Pro Tony. In 2025 we welcomed over 40 ladies into the program, where we give them a taster of golf, introduce them to existing members, load out clubs and offer a wide range of intro packages to help ease their way into the club
When we attract our new members, we will need more Buddies.
We are formalising our Buddy process to ensure we provide a quality service to both the new member and the member acting as a buddy.
In 2026 we will be formalising our “Buddy” scheme and creating a team of volunteers to support, welcome and play with our incoming new ladies. In addition we provide welcome pack for all new members, and hold “get to know” sessions to help introduce members to the club and all our facilities.
