CONGU changes 2018

The full list of changes can be seen on the CONGU website but the principle changes include:
- Retirement of Club and disability handicaps: As a result of their low impact, these have been replaced by a new Category 5 for men and Category 6 for both men and women providing a maximum handicap of 54 for all golfers. After 1st January 2018, handicap committees will be able to increase handicaps above the current limits of 28.0 and 36.0.

Temporary Local Rules

Temporary local rules that are dependant upon course conditions, e.g. life, clean and place, are displayed on the noticeboard on the pro shop wall next to the practice putting green. When placing is in force, a ball may be lifted without penalty and cleaned. Before lifting the ball, the player must mark its position. Having lifted the ball, he must place it on a spot within six inches of and not nearer the hole than where it originally lay, that is not in a hazard and not on a putting green.

Nov 2018 - Starting on the 1st November, in order to protect the area around the hole on the green and speed up play, we are introducing a local rule that allows a player to putt with the flagstick still in the hole. There is no penalty if the player's ball strikes the flagstick. This rule is going to be incorporated into the Rules of Golf effective 01/01/2019 so you will have a couple of months start to get used to it.

May 2018 - The ploughed area to the right of the 13th fairway has been designated as ground under repair. Rule 25-1 applies.
